Use Exalted Orbs to add lines to a Rare until it is full, and know that each one is permanent.

A Rare item can hold up to six modifiers: three prefixes and three suffixes. Your Rare has three, so it has room for three more.

Empty slots are the reason to use an Exalted Orb. A full item has none.

This is step 4 of 5. You have a Rare item with three modifiers.

What you are doing

A Rare item can hold up to six modifiers, three prefixes and three suffixes. An Exalted Orb adds one new random modifier to a Rare that is not full, and leaves the others alone.

What to do

  1. Use an Exalted Orb on the Rare. A fourth line appears.
  2. Keep going until the item is full, or stop sooner if you like what you have.

What you will see

Each Exalted Orb adds one line and never changes the lines already there. Which line you get is random.
