Privacy Policy

PoE Source (poe2source.com) is a free, fan-made companion site for Path of Exile. This page explains what information the site collects and how it is used. The short version: you can use the guides and tools without an account — your progress stays in your browser. Signing in is optional and unlocks cloud sync and saved builds only.

Using the site without an account

No sign-up or login is required to read guides, check off campaign steps, or import a PoB build for a quick summary. When you are not signed in, we do not collect your name, email, or any other personal information, and we have no database record of your visit.

Your guide progress (local storage)

When you check off steps in a leveling guide or set a class preference, that information is saved using your browser's local storage — a small amount of data your browser keeps on your own device. For signed-out users, this data is never transmitted to us. It stays on the device and browser you used, persists between visits until you clear it, and clearing your browser's site data for poe2source.com (or using a different browser or device) will reset it.

Signed-in users also have progress stored in the cloud (see below). Your browser may still hold a local copy for faster loading; the cloud copy is the source of truth while you are signed in.

Optional accounts (sign-in)

You may optionally sign in with Google or Discord to sync campaign progress across devices and save PoB imports to your account. When you sign in, we receive basic profile information from your OAuth provider (such as your display name, email address, and profile picture URL) and store it in our database to identify your account.

If you sign in for the first time on a browser that already has local progress, we offer to copy that progress into your account. We do not delete your local browser data as part of this process.

What we store for signed-in users:

• Profile — display name from your OAuth provider
• Characters — names, class preferences, and campaign-completion status
• Progress — which guide steps you have checked off, per character
• Saved builds — PoB import summaries, labels, source URLs, and the raw paste code needed to re-parse them later
• Preferences — account settings such as your last visited game

Core guides and tools remain free — signing in does not unlock paid content because there is no paid content.

Cookies & session data

PoE Source uses Google Analytics (gtag.js) to understand aggregate traffic — for example which pages are visited and roughly how many people use the site. Google may set cookies or use similar identifiers as part of that service. We do not run advertising networks or other third-party trackers. You can learn more in Google's Privacy Policy.

When you sign in, Supabase Auth sets session cookies so the site can recognize you on return visits. These are strictly functional — they keep you signed in and are not used for advertising or cross-site tracking.

Hosting & data processors

The site is hosted on Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel's infrastructure automatically processes standard technical information (such as IP address, browser type, and request timestamps) to serve pages and keep the service secure — this is normal web-hosting operation, not somethingPoE Source directs or has separate access to.

Signed-in account data is stored in a database operated by Supabase (region: US East). Supabase acts as our data processor for account storage and authentication. Aggregate usage analytics are processed by Google (Google Analytics). We do not sell your data or share it with advertisers.

Retention & deletion

We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. You can delete your account at any time from the account page. Deletion is permanent and removes your profile, characters, campaign progress, saved builds, and preferences from our database. Progress stored only in your browser is not affected.

Donations

PoE Source is funded by voluntary donations rather than ads. Core guides, progress, and tools stay free — tips support hosting and development, not access to game content. Optional donations go through Buy Me a Coffee, which processes payments via Stripe. PoE Source never sees or stores payment information. Children's privacy

PoE Source is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone. Signed-out use involves no personal data collection; signed-in accounts require an OAuth provider (Google or Discord) and are intended for users who meet those providers' age requirements.

Changes to this policy

If PoE Source's data practices change — for example, if we add analytics, ads, or new account features — this page will be updated and the “Last updated” date above will change accordingly.
