Omens — every category, and the five that might be gone

45 Omens across 11 categories turn one currency use or game event into a targeted, guaranteed outcome — plus 5 Omens that official patch notes say were removed, but that some guides still list as active.

Arm Omens on the right, or slam unguided

Currency, quality, then Omens

Load an Exalted Orb, then slam. Quality and Catalysts apply on click. Catalysts are jewellery quality of one tag — Catalysing spends that quality on the slam. Gear quality (Scrap, Whetstone, Etcher) does not feed Catalysing. Greater and Perfect are the same one-mod slam with a higher-level band — not Omen of Greater Exaltation, which adds two modifiers. Sinistral and Dextral cannot arm together.

Arm Omens

Why this step
Omens wrap the slamVerified
Right-click an Omen to arm it. The next matching currency use follows that rule. Compatible Omens stack — Omen of Dextral Exaltation plus Omen of Greater Exaltation adds 2 suffixes in one action. Arm immediately before the slam or it can spend on the wrong action.
Exalted Orb OmensVerified
Sinistral: prefix only. Dextral: suffix only. Those two cannot arm together. Greater: 2 modifiers instead of 1. Homogenising: the new line on the card shares a tag with one already on the item. Catalysing: consumes Catalyst quality on a ring or amulet; the slam prefers that tag. Gear quality does not feed it.
Quality and CatalystsVerified
Armourer's Scrap, Blacksmith's Whetstone, and Arcanist's Etcher add gear quality on the matching class — they do not feed Catalysing. Catalysts add quality of one modifier tag on a ring or amulet, replacing other quality types, capped at 20% (Breach rings can go to 50% — not on these sample bases). How much each use adds depends on item level; this teacher fills to the cap. Omen of Catalysing Exaltation consumes that Catalyst quality to bias the slam toward the matching tag. Three identical Catalysts reforge into one random Catalyst. 3-for-1 Catalyst reforge →
Modifier capVerified
Exalted Orb needs an open slot. Most rares cap at 6 explicits (3 prefix / 3 suffix). Jewels cap at 4 (2 prefix / 2 suffix). Slam is blocked at the cap — that is when you move to Clean, not another Exalt. Corrupted jewels can have 5; that is a corruption outcome, not this slam.

Why this lesson matters

Omens are what turn "spend currency and hope" into "spend currency with a guaranteed rule." Right-click an Omen to arm it (it shows a red border), and the next matching currency use or game event follows the Omen's rule instead of its normal random behavior. You can arm multiple *compatible* Omens at once and stack their effects on a single action — for example, arming both a prefix-only Omen and a mod-matching Omen before one Exalted Orb use.

A few mechanics apply across the whole system: - Omens stack in your inventory up to 10 of the same type. - They're tradeable through the Currency Exchange. - Most are obtained from Ritual — clear Ritual circles for Tribute, then spend Tribute at a Ritual Altar (roughly 200–500 Tribute per Omen). Abyss-category Omens are the exception, dropping from Abyssal monsters specifically. No static vendor sells them.

Chaos Orb Omens

OmenEffect
Omen of WhittlingChaos Orb removes the lowest-level modifier instead of a random one
Omen of Sinistral ErasureChaos Orb removes a prefix only
Omen of Dextral ErasureChaos Orb removes a suffix only

Exalted Orb Omens

OmenEffect
Omen of Sinistral ExaltationExalted Orb adds a prefix only
Omen of Dextral ExaltationExalted Orb adds a suffix only
Omen of Greater ExaltationExalted Orb adds 2 modifiers instead of 1
Omen of Homogenising ExaltationThe new modifier shares a tag with an existing modifier on the item
Omen of Catalysing ExaltationConsumes Catalyst Quality on the item to bias the roll toward that Catalyst's modifier type

A concrete example worth internalizing: arming Omen of Dextral Exaltation and Omen of Greater Exaltation together, then using a Perfect Exalted Orb, adds 2 suffix modifiers in one action. That's the clearest illustration of "Omen right before the slam" causality — the Omens set the rule, the currency executes it.

Omen of SanctificationDivine Orb "Sanctifies" the item — multiplies each modifier by roughly 0.78x–1.22x, which can push a roll past its normal maximum, then locks the item from further crafting
Omen of CorruptionGuarantees a Vaal Orb produces a change (removes the "nothing happens" outcome)
Omen of ChanceThe next Orb of Chance won't destroy the item if it fails to upgrade to Unique
Omen of the AncientsOrb of Chance instead produces a random Unique item of the same item class

Recombinator Omen

Omen of Recombination paired with the Recombinator mechanic — but as covered on the Fracturing & Sacrifice page, the Recombinator is currently disabled for this league, and this Omen was removed from the drop pool and deleted from inventories on login. Don't expect to find or use it right now.

Waystone (map) Omens

These apply Chaos Orb to a Waystone instead of a gear item, rerolling toward a specific reward axis:

OmenEffect
Omen of Chaotic RarityBiases toward item rarity modifiers
Omen of Chaotic QuantityBiases toward item quantity modifiers
Omen of Chaotic MonstersBiases toward monster-density/pack-size modifiers
Omen of Chaotic EffectivenessBiases toward Waystone effectiveness (map modifier scaling)

Abyss / Desecration Omens

These pair with the Desecration mechanic at the Well of Souls:

OmenEffect
Omen of Sinistral NecromancyForces a Desecrated modifier add to be a prefix
Omen of Dextral NecromancyForces a Desecrated modifier add to be a suffix
Omen of LightOrb of Annulment removes only a Desecrated modifier
Omen of Abyssal EchoesRerolls the 3 offered Desecration options once

The 5 contested Omens — read before you trust any claim about them

Official GGG patch notes for 0.3.0 ("The Third Edict") state that Omen of Greater Annulment, Omen of Sinistral Alchemy, Omen of Dextral Alchemy, Omen of Sinistral Coronation, and Omen of Dextral Coronation were removed from the drop pool. poe2wiki.net's list of drop-disabled items agrees with this.

However, some guide sites and marketplace listings — checked as recently as July 2026 — still show these five as active, with no disabled notice. We found no official patch note confirming a re-enable. Given the official source carries more authority than an unconfirmed guide listing, we lean toward "still removed" — but we're presenting this as genuinely contested rather than asserting it confidently either way. If you're trying to acquire or trade for one of these five, verify its current status in-game or via the Currency Exchange before assuming it's available.

A naming trap: "Uhtred's Omen" isn't an Omen

Some sites group "Aldur's/Medved's/Vorana's/Uhtred's/Olroth's Omens" together as if they're a themed Omen set. Uhtred's Omen is not an Omen at all — it's a Support Gem (a Lineage support), dropped from the boss Olroth. That grouping is a content error some guides repeat; don't carry it forward.

Practical tips

  • Arm Omens *immediately before* the action they modify — they consume on the next matching use, so arming one too early risks it getting spent on the wrong action.
  • Compatible Omens stack on one action (the Dextral Exaltation + Greater Exaltation example above). Incompatible ones — like two Omens targeting the same currency's prefix/suffix rule in opposite directions — don't; check the specific pair before assuming they combine.
  • Most Omens come from Ritual, so if you're not running Ritual encounters, you're leaving a major Omen source untouched.
  • Don't build a plan around the 5 contested Omens being available — treat their presence as a pleasant surprise if you find one, not something to farm toward.
