    A Vaal Beacon

  2. Stop 2

  6. Stop 6

    Atziri, the Red Queen

Beat the Red Queen, then her second form, the Fell Serpent. Take the Medallion she drops to the chamber entrance to open her Vault.

Both forms are beaten and her Vault is open.

The Path rule

Since 0.5.0, a room that has to be removed but still connects to other rooms becomes a plain Path. Your road survives; the room's bonus doesn't.

Older guides build a long snake of rooms to stop decay. That no longer works.

Tier 4 needs a passive

Rooms stop at Tier 3 until you take Transcendent Progress on this storyline's Atlas tree. Quipolatl's Medallion only goes up to Tier 3 as well.

GGG's 0.5.0 notes. The wiki says not every Tier 4 reward is confirmed yet.

Temple crafting

The Temple's crafting goes past where a Vaal Orb stops.

  • Vaal Infusers push quality past 20%. Up to 30%, with a chance to corrupt. Armourer's for armour, Blacksmith's for martial weapons, Arcanist's for caster weapons, Catalysing for jewellery.
  • The Architect's Orb corrupts a corrupted item again. It adds another corruption enchantment or destroys the item. The wiki says 50/50, from one source.
  • Orbs of Sacrifice come after Atziri. They upgrade a Corrupted Enchantment on a Rare item once, and remove one random explicit modifier to pay for it.

Find a Vaal Beacon

Vaal Beacons can turn up in your maps anywhere on the Atlas. Kill the monsters around one to sacrifice them to it, then activate it. Once it's done it greys out on your minimap.

Sometimes a Beacon calls in waves of corrupted Vaal monsters, or raises a unique monster to fight. The wiki says a map can hold several Beacons.

Take the Energised Crystal

Every finished Beacon gives you one Energised Crystal and raises a Vaal chest. Crystals are what power the Temple. The wiki says six make one Temple run, and since 0.5.0 you can bank up to 60.

In a party, the wiki says the map's owner always gets the Crystal and everyone else has a 50% chance.

Head for Lira Vaal

Lira Vaal is a city on your Atlas, north-east of where you start. It is not a person. Its maps always have Energised Crystals, and they give you points for this storyline's Atlas tree.

If it goes wrong: Older notes call Lira Vaal a character, or say Beacons only spawn near it. Beacons spawn anywhere; Lira Vaal just guarantees them.

Reach the Vaal Ruins

The Temple is built from the Vaal Ruins, a hub with a waypoint, a stash and the Temple Console. The wiki says it appears on your Atlas after your first Beacon. You can also walk in through the act waypoint, or a portal some Beacons open.

Six Beacons in Act 3 open the Vaal Ruins in the campaign too. A second set waits in the Interludes.

Add Beacons with Temple Tablets

A Temple Tablet adds Vaal Beacons to a map. Socket more of them for more Beacons. Since 0.5.5b they drop more often, mostly from Beacon encounters.

  • Extra Crystal: A 5 to 10% chance to get an extra Crystal from each Beacon. Pick it when: You want Temple runs faster. DEADRABB1T prefers this one. The cost: It's a small chance, so it only adds up over many maps.
  • More monsters: Bigger packs, extra packs, or more summoned monsters around Beacons. Pick it when: Your build clears fast and you want more loot from each map. The cost: More monsters around a Beacon means a harder fight.
  • Beacon uniques and chests: A chance for a Beacon unique monster, or Rare Beacon chests. Pick it when: You want a better chest from each Beacon. The cost: Neither speeds up your Crystals.
