Identity
Deadeye is Ranger's Frenzy Charge and projectile Ascendancy: it rewards aggressive positioning and charge-stacking with burst damage and mobility, built around Marking enemies, chaining projectiles between them, and riding a stacking Tailwind buff that only grows the more you keep moving and attacking.
Notables
- Avidity — 50% chance to gain an additional Frenzy Charge when you gain a Frenzy Charge. (Buffed in patch 0.3.0 from a 30% chance to gain *maximum* Frenzy Charges to the current 50%-chance-for-one-extra-charge version — some older guides still show the pre-0.3.0 figure.)
- Thrilling Chase — Skills that benefit from consuming Frenzy Charges have a 50% chance to have that consumption doubled.
- Called Shots — Causes your projectiles to chain to marked enemies, and grants the Called Shots Meta Skill, which repeatedly marks nearby enemies and bypasses your normal Mark limit. (Also reworked in patch 0.3.0 — the old version simply let you apply an additional Mark; some older guides still describe that.)
- Bullseye — Consuming a Mark on an enemy applies 10 stacks of Critical Weakness to them. Requires Called Shots.
- Point Blank — Projectiles deal 20% more Hit damage to targets in the first 3.5 metres of their flight, scaling down to 0% more by 7 metres. Mutually exclusive with Far Shot.
- Far Shot — The inverse of Point Blank: 0% more Hit damage at point-blank range, scaling up to 20% more by 7 metres. Mutually exclusive with Point Blank.
- Endless Munitions — Skills fire an additional projectile.
- Gathering Winds — Gain Tailwind on skill use; lose all Tailwind when Hit. Each stack of Tailwind grants 1% increased Movement Speed, 2% increased Skill Speed, 10% increased Evasion Rating, and prevents 1% of damage from Deflected Hits — stacking up to 10 times, each stack lasting 10 seconds and refreshing when you gain another.
- Mirage Deadeye — Ranged projectile attacks periodically create a mirage that fights alongside you using your equipped Bow, Spear, or Crossbow. The mirage lasts 4.05–5 seconds (scaling with skill level, plus up to 1 more second from quality), on a 10-second cooldown between mirages, and deals 50% less damage than you do.
Keystone
Deadeye has no keystone-tier node of its own. (PoE2 keystones live only on the shared passive tree — no Ascendancy tree has one.)
Practical notes
- Point Blank and Far Shot are opposite bets on the same stat — Point Blank rewards staying in an enemy's face with a bow, which is unusual for a ranged Ascendancy; Far Shot is the more conventional "stay at range" pick.
- Bullseye requires Called Shots, so if you want the Critical Weakness payoff, budget for both notables rather than treating Bullseye as a standalone pick.
- Gathering Winds' Tailwind stacks reward constant skill use and punish getting hit — a single Hit wipes the whole stack, so this Ascendancy plays best when you can keep moving and avoid taking hits rather than tanking through them.
