Gemling Legionnaire: Full Ascendancy Breakdown

A deep dive into every notable on the Gemling Legionnaire Ascendancy — turning Attribute stacking into Motes-based buffs, freeing gem Attribute requirements, and scaling Skills off Support Gem colour and socket count.

Gemling Legionnaire

Identity

Gemling Legionnaire is Mercenary's gem-and-Attribute Ascendancy: it rewards stacking Strength, Dexterity, and Intelligence directly, both for their own inherent bonuses (doubled, if you build for it) and for a passive Barrier that converts spare Attribute investment into Life, defences, and regeneration. A second branch frees your gear and gems from their Attribute requirements entirely, and a third scales your Skills based on how many Support Gems you've socketed and what colour they are.

Notables

Small passives

  • 3% increased Attributes (this passive appears twice on the tree; taking both stacks the bonus)
  • Equipment and Skill Gems have 4% reduced Attribute Requirements (this passive appears three times on the tree; taking all three stacks the bonus)
  • +2% to Quality of all Skills (this passive appears three times on the tree; taking all three stacks the bonus)
  • Implants (gated behind Implanted Gems): Bolstering Implants grants +2 to Level of all Skills with a Strength requirement, Neurological Implants grants +2 to Level of all Skills with an Intelligence requirement, and Motoric Implants grants +2 to Level of all Skills with a Dexterity requirement — each is its own separate small passive, not a single combined node.

Keystone

Gemling Legionnaire has no keystone-tier node of its own.

Practical notes

  • Essence of Virtue rewards running several single-Attribute-requiring Skills over one Skill that requires all three — each single-Attribute Skill doubles that Attribute's Mote cap, while a tri-Attribute Skill only counts once toward all three caps at once.
  • Adaptive Capability is what makes an extreme single-Attribute stacking build (all-Dexterity, for instance) practical — without it, gems that need Strength or Intelligence become unusable once your other Attributes fall too far behind.
  • Gem Studded, Thaumaturgical Infusion, and Integrated Efficiency all key off your Support Gem colours and socket count rather than your Attributes directly — they reward a deliberate choice of which colour Support Gems you socket, on top of whatever those gems' own effects are.
  • The hub lesson's Gemling Legionnaire summary currently references a "Crystalline Potential" notable that this page's research could not confirm exists in the live game (see sourceNote above) — treat any mention of it elsewhere on the site as unresolved until the hub content is reviewed.
