Stormweaver: Full Ascendancy Breakdown

A deep dive into every notable on the Stormweaver Ascendancy — double-Shock and double-Chill stacking, Mana-fueled Arcane Surge, and Elemental Storm triggers.

Identity

Stormweaver is Sorceress's elemental crit Ascendancy: it stacks two Shocks and two Chills on enemies simultaneously instead of the usual one each, scales critical damage off how much Mana you're missing, and periodically triggers a large Elemental Storm off spell crits. It rewards aggressive Mana spending and layering ailments rather than playing conservatively.

Notables

  • Tempest Caller — Grants the skill Elemental Storm, which triggers on Critical Hit with Spells.
  • Constant Gale — You have permanent Arcane Surge.
  • Force of Will — 20% of damage is taken from Mana before Life, and you gain 20% increased effect of Arcane Surge on you per 10% of missing Mana. (Reworked in patch 0.3.0 — the previous version scaled Arcane Surge's effect off your total maximum Mana instead of how much you were missing; some older guides still describe that version.)
  • Multiplying Squalls — +2 to the Limit for Elemental Skills. (Buffed from +1 in patch 0.4.0 — also renamed from an earlier "Rain Dancer.")
  • Refracted Infusion — When you collect an Elemental Infusion, you guarantee gaining another different Elemental Infusion. (Made unconditional in patch 0.4.0 — it was only a 50% chance in patch 0.3.0, and before that a completely different node called "Heart of the Storm" that granted Elemental Damage Recoup as Energy Shield instead.)
  • Storm's Recollection — Remnants you create reappear once, 3 seconds after being collected, and can be collected from 50% further away.
  • Strike Twice — Targets can be affected by two of your Shocks at the same time, at the cost of 25% less Magnitude of Shock you inflict. (Reworked in patch 0.2.0 — the previous version instead gave 50% less Shock Duration; some older guides still show that.)
  • Shaper of Storms — All damage from Hits contributes to Shock chance.
  • Heavy Snows — Targets can be affected by two of your Chills at the same time (capped at a maximum 35% action-speed slow), at the cost of 25% less Magnitude of Chill you inflict.
  • Shaper of Winter — All damage from Hits contributes to Chill Magnitude.

Small passives

  • 12% increased Mana Regeneration Rate
  • 12% increased Critical Hit Chance for Spells
  • 20% increased chance to Shock
  • 25% increased Chill Duration on Enemies
  • +4% to all Elemental Resistances
  • 12% increased Elemental Damage
  • Two separate "Remnants can be collected from 25% further away" small passives

Keystone

Stormweaver has no keystone-tier node of its own.

Practical notes

  • Force of Will rewards running Mana low rather than topped off — the lower your current Mana, the bigger the Arcane Surge bonus, which cuts against the instinct to keep a full Mana bar as a safety buffer.
  • Strike Twice and Heavy Snows both trade some per-instance ailment strength for the ability to double-stack that ailment — this Ascendancy's whole identity leans on stacking two of the same ailment rather than maximizing one.
  • Refracted Infusion's guarantee (not a coin flip) means Elemental Infusion generation from this Ascendancy is fully reliable once you have it — worth knowing if you're comparing this against older written guides that still describe it as a 50% chance.
