Now part of the Atlas
Since 0.5.5, Expedition is core in Standard and Forbidden Rites, with Tablets, Farrow and Dannig. You meet Expeditions in the campaign from Act 4 onwards.
From GGG's 0.5.5 patch notes.
The Verisium Anvil
It unlocks when you finish The Runeseeker in Act 4. After that, Farrow can live in your hideout in any league.
24 Atlas points
Each of the four leaders gives 6 Expedition Atlas points. That's enough for the whole Expedition tree.
Points come only from the Grand Expedition bosses (0.5.4).

Expedition Tablets
The more Expedition Tablets affect a map, the more Expedition it gets.
- 1 tablet: a Kalguuran Expedition in the map.
- 2 tablets: a Verisium Remnant, and 35% more Expedition density.
- 3 tablets: one more Kalguuran Expedition.
- 4 tablets: one more Verisium Remnant, and another 35% density. A fourth slot needs a City map and Industrial Improvements.
- Density means more chests, Monster Flags and Verisium Remnants. Tablets don't work in Grand Expeditions.
Runesmithing is in Reference
Verisium Remnants, Runic Ward and Kalguuran skills belong to the Runes of Aldur system. They have their own lesson.

Medved, the Fallen Seer
Reveal ocean with Makoru's Logbook and look for Sprawling Jungle, where Gwennen waits. Detonate the site and kill Medved. game8 puts him around tier 11. He drops Vorana's Logbook.
If it goes wrong: Older notes put Medved in a cracked tomb. He's on the Sprawling Jungle island.
Vorana, Last to Fall
Vorana is on Mournful Cliffside, where Tujen waits, also around tier 11. She drops Uhtred's Logbook.
Since 0.5.3 her unblockable Cyclone flashes red before it hits.
Uhtred, the Stardrinker
Uhtred is on Secluded Temple, where Rog waits, around tier 14. He drops Olroth's Logbook, and the wiki says he can rarely drop a Mana Rune that farmers chase.
Olroth, Origin of the Fall
Olroth is on Obscure Island, tier 14 and up. He throws his sword and slams it down, and rotating pillars of light close in, so stay in the gaps. In his second phase he fires a tracking cold beam. Runic Gateways keep spawning skeletons the whole time.
The wiki says his cold resistance dropped to 30% in 0.5.4, and Uhtred's and Vorana's were lowered too.
Fight them in order
For the quest the order is fixed, because each leader drops the next Logbook. Since 0.5.4b all four count as Powerful Map Bosses, with a lot more life than before.
- Quest run: Follow the Logbook chain: Medved, Vorana, Uhtred, Olroth. Pick it when: It's your first time through. The cost: You can't skip ahead.
- Repeat fights: Use a leader's Saga or follow its Rumour to find that leader again. Pick it when: You want a specific leader's drops. The cost: Sagas have to be found first.
Earn the Atlas points
Each leader gives 6 Expedition Atlas points, 24 in all. That's enough for every node on the Expedition tree.
